I’ve had lady Gaga for about a year and a half. She’s the first plant I haven’t killed, if that says anything. I’m now trying to build my plant knowledge, be a better plant mama and get her healthier. The first picture is last week or so, the second one is just another view today I did repot (smaller pot), adding some perlite with the soil, and watered with fertilizer after. Where do I start? Diagnoses and recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

These plants like high humidity. I keep mine in a grow tent and it’s the first time she’s been truly happy! I would take this entire pot and place it above a dish filled with water. You can also keep an eye out on facebook marketplace for a humidifier! They are game changers for tropical plants! I’d also highly recommend fertilizer if you aren’t already and 12-14 hours of bright indirect light/grow light.

I actually JUST got a humidifier and will be setting it up tomorrow. I was thinking it was a humidity issue, so you’re thinking that too? She just has not made new leaves or grown really at all. Do they typically grow slow?

Also I would check the roots. I like keeping all my plants in clear plastic pots and then inside a decorative pot. This was you can easily keep an eye on the roots without disturbing the plant. She may need a repot! If roots are healthy and not mushy then repot in clean chunky soil if you have it and feed her!! The grow very slow when they dislike their environment and they aren’t getting the proper nutrients to thrive

I forgot to say you don’t need to repot unless roots are mushy or overgrown! Sorry I’m tired!!

I edited the post, might’ve been as you were commenting on it already. I just repotted her and did water and fertilizer with it. I’ll move her to a new spot that gets a little more light throughout the day, get my humidifier going, hopefully I’ll see some good changes!

I repotted her very recently because I wanted to check her roots and I hadn’t done it before, her roots looked pretty good (although I’m new to this ha). But I put her in a big pot (first picture). I read that they don’t like to be in too big of pots, and also I didn’t do like perlite or anything. So I repotted again very carefully. I’m hoping I don’t shock her too much. Definitely will leave her be for a while let her get used to the changes and fingers crossed!

Needs more light and a moss pole. The leaves will get smaller and not unfurl if there isn’t enough light. Also the pink will dissipate without enough light, so if you want big leaves with lots of variegation, the more light the better. A pole will give it something to climb up, otherwise it’ll grow tall and topple.

I’m assuming this is a philodendron ‘pink princess’. I have two of these, the mother and her baby, both in separate pots. They are the SLOWEST growing plants I have! In case you’re wondering, they do have droopy leaves, and it doesn’t mean they’re unhealthy! Good luck with your new baby; I think you’re going to be a great plant mama!

I use a tropical mix type soil for my baby girl and use a moss pole my husband 3D printed to train it to climb, it will also attach aerial roots to the moss pole as well. They like the moisture. Mine has been thriving recently with the sun and added humidity.
