I was told that I should get a moss pole for my philodendron, but saw something where someone used a bamboo stick instead… does this look okay? The twist ties aren’t tight on the plant. Also, there are these little spot thingies on the stems. Is that normal?

Looks fine to me. I’ve got bamboo (and other) poles like this is many.

Bamboo poles and ties are effective to keep the plant upright. Moss poles gives the aerial roots a structure to grasp and climb on its own. It depends on what you want for the plant. I have a similar one without any poles. The plant falls slightly from the weight of new growth and puts aerial roots into the soil, similar to the aerial roots on your plant. Mine is now a lump of aerial roots and stems in the center of the pot. I don’t mind the look.
