OMG HELP ME! Long story short I inherited this from my sister after she had to move out of our childhood home…our mother planted these about 50 years ago!! I’d love to keep it alive and really need tips! Even if you know specifically what it is…I’m pretty sure it’s philodendron. Thank you all!! 💚 Yes I know that’s the wrong support pole, That was all I had in the moment (new pole is first thing on my list to get!)
Definitely get a new pole ! I would recommend getting it in a bigger pot and check the roots for rot cut off the dead parts too ! Looks good otherwise

Soil looks terrible! I would change it as soon as the plant is settled in. You can find some nice homemade mixes on the internet for whatever your plant needs, i go for etsy. Keep the plastic pot, find a decorative one to hide it, it would instantly make it look nicer. Also, does this kind of plant even need a support? It could be that the top layer of soil is eroded and not holding the plant up properly. Looks like the kind of plant that can support itself, not that i know. Keep us updated!

The leaves of these plants don’t need support when they are healthy. The leaf stem may be etiolated from trying to find light. I would move it so that both leaves are getting more light. Add a grow light if needed. Fertilize regularly. I would give it about a month to get adjust. Then, repot it as recommended. The soil looks crusty.

That looks like a split-leaf philodendron “hope”. As for how to help her 😅 I’m at a loss there. The soil doesn’t look great and maybe check how the roots are doing. These plants are usually super bushy and full, so something is going on to cause that amount of leaf drop.
