So excited for a new leaf in my white philodendron princess, but its all white. I read that its not actually a good thing for the plant. What do you all suggest - should I remove or keep? thank you!

The fully white leaf (while suuuper pretty) will eventually brown and die off. When my ppp started putting out all pink leaves it wouldn’t stop. I had to cut back to the last variegated leaf to get some of the green to come back into the new growth. I imagine it might be the same for yours?

Yeah if it keeps pushing full white out I’d consider this too 👆🏻

From what I know you should enjoy it & then chop it. Because it’s all white it can’t photosynthesize properly so it’s a drain of energy on the plant

Personally Id keep them until they die bc they’re gorgeous! the idea that a leaf that is yellowing or white is draining to a plant is considered a myth by some as I’ve heard it related to a plant is intuitive and will naturally stem off growth to something it no longer needs but some also believe the opposite so do what you wanna do lol! Trial and learning by practice and see what your plants like in your personal micro environment!

Definitely enjoy it while you have it!

Gorgeous! 😍 Leave it be. There are plenty of green leaves to catch light and produce chlorophyll. Give the plant the benefit of the doubt that it knows what to do. Social media has people in a froth to treat white leaves as always detrimental to a plant. I’m with the school of thought that there is no need to take action when the plant looks healthy.

Thank you for all the great advice and insight! I’m going to keep it and admire the new leaf, and see what happens. Like what some of you said, sometimes its Ok to trust what the plant is doing and it will let me know if I need to come in and do something different. 🍃
