My birkin keeps getting brown spots in the new leaves of an otherwise thriving plant. Why??? My care is optimal. Only thing I can think of is dry air? It is NOT sun scorch. Isn’t even in a window.

    Is the soil very wet? Could be overwatering but could also be humidity. Are leave dropping also?

      It’s not over watered. I’ve had this plant for over a year and it has tripled in size. My care is optimal which is why it looks amazing otherwise. I wonder if it’s some kind of underlying disease or wondering if it’s because there’s a ceiling fan above it and that’s drying the air out around it.

    No leaf drop at all, though I have just cut off the ones that the brown spots have gotten out of control cause I don’t like the way they look

    Could be the fan? Mine is. It by a fan or ac unit so I’m unsure.

      Not a bad call. Silica does reduce water loss but only to a certain extent. Maybe consider a humidifier? Hoping you have a reverse osmosis system to avoid sediment build up in the humidifier. I have hard water so I had to just for my plants lol.

    Your plant looks very healthy - if your care hasn’t changed and it’s thriving then it isn’t suffering from any bacterial or fungal diseases. Brown spots here and there are normal, the plants aren’t pristine in nature. If anything she could use a repot and maybe a trim of the oldest leaves. Maybe she’s a bit too crowded in there and leaves aren’t receiving enough air flow through them?
