Does anyone know what kind of philodendron this is? It looked unwell so I got it for $5. Had it quarantined for 3wks now because I don’t want it around my other plant babies until I know what’s wrong with it. I’m getting close to throwing it out tho 😬 it isn’t showing signs of improvement, but is unfurling new leaves. I checked for pests etc

Looks like a red emerald. It doesn’t look bad from what I can tell maybe it’s time to repot? I recently got one on clearance that was root bound and it started to thrive about 3 weeks after repotting

Thanks! The leaves just look sickly. I’ll check the roots tho…

It could be excess water in the leaves (edema) if the leaves looked soaked in oil or have translucent areas. Hold off watering until the soil dries.

If it’s unfurling new leaves it’s probably recovering. Some of my philos leaves seemed to sweat as it adjusted to the humidity at my house. But after a week or two it perked up. Definitely let it get on the dryer side before watering. I’ve also found bottom watering helpful to let them soak up what they want for the adjustment period.
