Alright y’all— I just got this pink princess For Free from a local plant dealer (she was super nice!) and I am Determined to keep her alive. Her name is Calliope, we think she’s pest free, and she is on the brink but she’s got potential. I’m trying out this setup to see if she likes it— location options are a bit limited since she’s sharing space with 2 curious cats and a handful of other plants. This window is S-SE facing and I just watered her (she’s been kept on the drier side over winter which may be part of her woes). What’s next in the order of operations? Does she need a pole or something for support? Fertilizer? This is my first time trying to keep a pink princess alive and I fear she’s a bit of a project to get looking like herself again, lol Thanks in advance for any suggestions! 🪴🌷🪷

Keep in mind the only ppp I ever had died, but this is just what I do for my sickly plants. I'd definitely recommend pest prevention, even if you don't see any because better safe than sorry. I'd also make sure the roots are doing okay and fertilize. Good luck!!

to start, the lighting seems pretty good! i would try to VERY GENTLY get that new leaf unstuck - you can either mist it and very very carefully try to slowly nudge the leaf out of the sheaths, or carefully lay a damp paper towl/tissue around it to let it free :) i would just let her acclimate to your home for a week or two, and then maybe check to roots out to see whats going on! if theyre healthy, you will probably be able to keep the same sized pot, if theres anything dried or rotten trim it off. make sure to use a well draining chunky tropical mix! water when halfway or more dry, and if you have a humidifier, i recommend putting her near it! this will also help the new leaves get stuck less often. hope you are able to get her back to looking good again! best of luck!

Ooo that is a GOOD point about the new leaf getting caught— I might be overthinking this, but do you mean literally just lay/wrap a bit of damp paper towel over it? I don’t think i’ve heard this hack before but I do want to keep this baby leaf safe lol

Heyyyy, we got a PPP the same day!! This is my dream plant I've wanted one for years! I named mine Peach. She's a little worse for wear, I think, and I don't have the right soil for my philodendrons yet, but at least they have perlite in with them. I'm gonna get her a grow light and humidifier, and eventually the right soil

I found her in Walmart, I just couldn't leave her to die. The top of her soil was so molded and she had gnats. She was my only new plant with pests, but all my new plants get treated for a week or two, sometimes up to a month depending on what they need. I repotted her with the new soil and I'm hoping it helps even though it's the wrong type

My pink princess just came yesterday, delivered in the mail and in bad shape. Her name is Pinky. I appreciate you posting this post bc she's my 1st PPP and I'm a beginner.
