I have two philodendron black cardinals, one traditional and one “Carmel” variety (?) from my local conservatory. I was adding a moss pole to my PPP the other day and had extra material and set them both up with one. Now I am wondering if that was the right decision and if they’ll like the support and moisture or if I should take out the poles. Any guidance is welcomed, I should have asked before I did it in hindsight lol!

Hi! They might be too small now but eventually these will be really happy to climb!

Thank you so much!! They had been in their nursey pots for a few weeks at home and I wanted to get them out of that soil and into something chunkier, but they were both pretty floppy so at the very least it is some support!

Sounds like they’re in good hands!

I’m only a year and some change into keeping plants alive instead of killing them, and I just got Planta in January! It has been a journey but YouTube and planta have both helped tremendously

I’ve learned so much from other plant fiends - it’s a cool community! There is PLENTY to learn when it comes to plants- about them and also from them! 😅

I am a lifetime learner of so many things, but growing with my houseplants is my fav kind of learning!

You did great! Philodendrons love moss poles from what I’m gathering with mine. It’ll allow them to really climb and give you some pretty big leaves. Since the moss sucks the water up and keeps it damp your aerial roots will love you for it (:

They both definitely have a few aerial roots (tiny lol) but they’re there! I’m excited to see how they are doing in a few months
