Hey everyone I have had this plant for over two years and im noticing some of its vines are dying off and im not sure as to why. Any help would be great appreciated

    Pothos like to dry out between watering, it could be getting too much. Are you waiting until the top 1-2 inches of soil is dry before watering? Check the roots to see if it needs to be repotted as well. They also do really well if you give them a moss pole to climb up!

      Thank you! I have had it in the same pot for a little over two years and I repotted it, it looked a little root bound so I think that was the problem.

    This is a philodendron hederaceum, not a pothos, just to help avoid confusion. Any recent changes to its environment or care? Assuming everything has been consistent, I’m noticing more baldness up top with fuller vines at the bottom. This is probably for a couple reasons: 1) Not enough light, particularly on top: this can cause the upper leaves to die off and is really common for hanging baskets. If you notice the light source is hitting the lower areas or side much more then you might consider lowering the basket overall. 2) Normal aging: leaves don’t live forever, so if it’s the oldest leaves yellowing off then they may just be aging out. You can get a fuller look by cutting the plant back, rooting the cut stems, and then planting back into the same basket.

    Also, if you’ve had the plant this long and haven’t fertilized or repotted then it could basically be resorbing old leaves because it lacks the nutrients to fuel the new growth. In that case you could try fertilizer and/or either a repot or a root trim.

      I fertilized it last week, but yes the sun typically hits the sides more than the top of the plant. Theres been no recent changes to its environment except last week i lowered it onto a stool to make sure it was doing okay because i started noticing the vines were dying. I did accidentally knock it off the stool everything was intact and i added some dirt to make up for the loss. Then put it back hanging

      I also looked at the bottom of the plant and it a few roots are hanging out so I think im going to try to repot it from a 6” to 8” pot

      It sounds like you’re doing everything right. In my experience, these guys do best with a well-draining but somewhat less chunky soil than most non-trailing philodendrons because there’s more pull on their roots from the weight of the trailing vines.

      When I repotted it I added some orchid bark to regular potting soil to help with the drainage
