   I’d let some more secondary roots form before putting in soil.

   I prop mine frequently from pups that pop out of it. I cut them off and put in water and once they get about one inch roots I put them in soil. You run the risk of rot leaving them in water too long and the roots aren’t as strong growing in water versus soil.
