Hiii☺️ So a few weeks ago I got my first Pink Princess, madly in love with her, yada yada. My bulldozer of a dog knocked it over not long after I got it, broke a leaf. What do I do, or what can I do to help her recover? Plz help, thanks💘

The leaf won’t heal itself, sadly mechanical damage like that is permanent. Just keep doing what you’d normally do to keep it healthy, but if the condition of the leaf worsens, the cellular structure may be too damaged. In that case, pruning the leaf might be worth it to conserve energy for the rest of the plant. I have some plants with tears in them and although they don’t look the best, the plant is still perfectly healthy. With new growth it’ll be less noticeable. Good luck!

So when I prune the leaf, do I just prune up to where it broke? Do I prune a lil extra?

If there’s another leaf node on the stem, prune just above that. If not, prune at the base of the stem where it meets the rest of the plant.

I’m personally not a fan of cutting off portions of damaged leaves, I’m from the school of just pruning the entire leaf. Some might just cut only the damaged parts off the leaf and call it a day, but that’s up to you. It will do the same thing- prevent energy from being spent on damaged plant tissue. But the leaf will still never be a full leaf again.

Take the leaf off at the base. She’ll be just fine

The base of the leaf itself or the base of the leaf’s stem stalk?
