This is my first plant. It was given to me as a gift for Christmas. What do I do with the leaf that’s brown? Also watered it for the first time and some water came out the bomb not a lot barely any. any advice?

    What a lovely plant! Just cut that brown leaf. It’s hard when it’s your first plant but it’s not going to turn green again so it’s best to let it go. As for the water coming out the bottom that’s a good thing! I didn’t know this when I first got into plants but when you water a plant you want to fully saturate it. If you pour water over the top that means you want to keep going until you see a healthy stream coming out the drainage hole. Then you let the all the excess water drain out over a sink or tray then put it back on your plate and water again when the soil is mostly dry. Good luck!

    I would recommend watching plant care videos on YouTube. I’ve learned so much from “Wild Fern.” “Aloha Plant Life” has some good some good content for beginners too. The Philodendron Brazil is a really low maintenance plant. I have two of them and they grow quickly. Have fun!
