Hi! I’m new to taking care of plants. I’ve had this one for about 6 months and it was perfect until about two months ago. I’m pretty sure it’s some type of Philodendron and i was wondering what I can do to help it. I think i’ve been overwatering it and the soil has mold on top so do i dump the soil and replant it? I need tips!!

That looks like a neon pothos. I think probably overwatering try using a skewer to test the soil

i think it might be a heart leaf philodendron, i can see the old sheaths that the leaves have before they unfurl. pothos stems are also typically thicker. :)

take out the pot and check the roots. if they look soggy and black it’s root rot. clean out the roots, and remove any rotten ones. i also spray with hydroperoxide to really clean the roots. put it in fresh soil and just let it heal. if there are good nodes and cuttings i would remove them and propagate in water so i can get some to root. once a plant gets root rot its hard to save so if you can get some rooted cuttings you can regrow it.

if you follow the planta watering schedule i would either use less water or get a moisture meter and chopstick to test the soil first.
