Mine became this way too too but I believe I might have had it too close to a grow light and one with too much sun exposure, and the leaves burned?

Don’t think that’s the case here

Hi! Your plant is beautiful btw! But the white on the leaves are not able to do the process photosynthesis. So it kills them off. It is totally fine that they come out with white but beware they will die off, at least the white part.

Yeah, like Herb & Thyme said, high variegation leaves are very delicate unfortunately. The plant kinda “votes them off the island” first, per se, if there’s unfavorable conditions or lack of some nutrient

I will fertilize maybe that will help future leaves

You have a lot of fungus gnats. Their larvae live in the soil and feed off the roots which damage leaves. Check for root damage and get rid of the gnats.

That death sack has killed off too many plants! I’m glad you found the source of the issue.

What’s a death sac? Pardon my ignorance I’m new. I googled gnat death sac and it didn’t provide any guidance.

It’s a woven cloth or small cage like pot used to grow starter plants in mass quantities without their roots growing onto another plant. They repot the starter into a pot and leave the cage/web/cloth around the roots. The plant’s growth is stunted and starts to die off when it can’t completely break free of the devices. Less work for a nursery selling 50k starter plants a year to leave on the cages of death.

Also known as a plug, or propagation plug (I heard Drea from Aloha Plant Life on YouTube explain what they were and to remove them them). When I bought my Alocasia, it wasn’t growing and as soon as I discovered it I removed it and it started growing. Also if use mosquito bits you can buy silicone tea bags (reusable) and fill the pouch and let it sit in the water. I have a half gallon pitcher I use to make the “tea” ahead of time and then store it in a gallon water bottle. I’ve recently switched to Mosquito Dunk which are larger pieces, because I saw Wild Fern on YouTube talking about them. Much easier to use and you can break them in half and they’ll go farther. I also put in a drop or two of Super Thrive vitamins in the tea every other time. My plants and water propagation’s love it.

Well white knight is not doing good. After repotting in a smaller pot I think it went into shock. Ready to graveyard it 😭
