I only use the Planta watering recommendations as a guide to check on the plants. But how does everyone use the fertilizer suggestions? Are they pretty spot on? If not, then how do you determine when to fertilize your plants? Thanks in advance!

Google. I look up multiple sources to see what the consensus is on when to fert. a certain plant and then set my schedule accordingly. Lots of plants are 1x/month during the growing season. But some need much less, or a little more. So I would do some research on your specific plant and then set what works for yours.

If it were one plant, that seems easy. When you have 100 plants, not so much. 😭

I go based on the species, not necessarily based on the exact type. So all philodendrons, pothos, monsteras, ect. It definitely was time consuming when I first started setting up my plants, but now that I have a good system and everyone seems to be happy it really was worth it!

I don’t really like the fertilizer option. The fertilizer I use has instructions to only use once a month but Planta will tell me to fertilize sometimes as often as once a week. For some of my faster growing plants I will use the Planta notifications but honestly I’m feeling pretty nervous about it, it’s only been a couple months so 🤷‍♀️

Depends on the plant and depends on the fertilizer you choose. If you want to “set it and forget it”, you could use slow release fertilizer and then only have to add it as often as the bottle says (3-6 months I’d guess). If you’re like me, you can use an organic fertilizer every time you water and not have to worry about it burning your plants. I use fertilizer as long as my plants are growing

The big problem is that different websites give you different frequency recommendations. I’ll find completely different advice for the same exact plant. 🤷

I have too many plants to keep track. I use ferilizer sticks and my plants are happy, healthy, and bloom every season
