My heart leaf philodendron seems to be doing great, but can anyone tell me if it’s supposed to climb up or spread out? When I first got it I thought it needed support so I tied it to a stick, but it seems to be growing off to the side very happily. Should I be propping it up so it grows upwards or is it okay to let it go sideways like this? Do I even need the stick? Thanks!!

I think I’m general, philodendrons will produce larger leaves if supported on a pole but can grow either way. It’s more up to your personal preference.

There are a few growth habits for philodendron (climbing, trailing, crawling, etc) this one is a trailing plant, meaning it can just hang down, but the other person is correct that if you stake it up on something the roots can grow into it will give you bigger leaves

Mine is thriving in a hanging pot
