Hi everyone. My philodendron is THRIVING. However I’m going to need to repot soon, as she is still in the original plastic pot she was bought in. Any tips and tricks for repotting?? I am terrified lol every time I try to repot something it doesn’t go well.

Some advice I have it to make sure you have a drainage hole at the bottom, and I always add some rocks or wood chips at the bottom of the pot so they have some space to rid of the water and spread around , also make sure the pot is decently bigger , I like to do it 1 inch around thicker , and I have my soil moist when I re pot it and then don’t water or touch the plant for a couple days after . I’ve never had a bad reaction with my philodendrons doing that :)

You can also do glass or see through pots to see the roots and check on them to see if you need to re pot them !

Avoid disturbing the root ball to help prevent root damage. Just add fresh soil to the bottom and sides.

Only go up 1-2" pot size. Use a Mycorrhizal for the roots (put some media in the bottom of the pot, then Mycorrhizal, then the plant. Then backfill the rest in). This helps with transplant shock. Then throughly water. I personally lightly fertilize(diluted 4-3-6) with the water as well. But you'll see varying arguments on that 😆

Hey Wolfen, can you explain what the 4:3:6 ratio is when you fertilize?

It's the NPK ratio. Nitrogen- Phosphorus- Potassium. And each plant kinda has an ideal, and/or some fertilizer are ideal for certain seasons, like Phosphorus is good for blooms and fruit. Nitrogen is leaf and stem growth. And Potassium is good for roots and uptake. There's more indepth to each. But that's the basics
