Any tips or advice from people with experience with tall moss poles?… | Philodendron Parents | Plantaコミュニティ

Any tips or advice from people with experience with tall moss poles? I just had to extend her pole because she’s growing so well, but now it’s a 4ft tower and pretty wobbly. I have stakes and she sits in a ceramic pot for stability, but the pole itself feels loose in the planter pot after the extension. I haven’t repot her since sept/aug of last year, but I’m afraid to go up in size because she seems quite happy rn in her 8” pot (and no roots coming out the bottom). I will if that’s what needs to happen to improve stability, though. I’m not ready to chop/prop just yet either 😅 thanks in advance

I don’t have any advice unfortunately just had to comment on how beautiful this ppp is. I rarely see them this full!

Oo yes that blue pot is definitely too small. I say if you have to extend the pole, take the time to extend the pot too. You're not going to want to repot afterwards, so giving more space to grow everywhere all at once is the best method. Plus it's a great time to give it some fresh nutrients before it'll start to slow down and hibernate in the fall/winter months. I find this leads to bigger growth the next year

She seems so happy! My only advice is to find a nice corner in your house to support the wobbly pole… that’s what I do 💀 I would only size up the pot if your PPP is constantly needed water because it’s mostly roots. Sizing up will slow down the growth of the leaves because it will concentrate on growing more roots which will be good!

I add extra chunky pumice to my mix for all my moss poles to weight it down 🥰

also I the part of the moss pole that’s in the soil should be filled with chunky soil/pumice not moss
