Am I possibly overwatering my marble pothos? She’s starting to get yellow leaves in the middle of the vine now. (Had 2 yellow leafs at the beginning of some vines that I thought were it just aging) now there’s a bunch in the middle of the vine with one leaf half green with a yellow centre. Dr planta is saying it’s a watering imbalance which is less then helpful. I wait till she’s dry for 2 days to water (use a moisture metre) and then give her a good soak and let her drain for a while before going back in her decor pot. Watered 4 days ago, and fertilized 16days ago. She’s currently reading a 4 on the metre which is almost in the dry category (1-3 is dry on my metre, 4-7 moist) Any advice? (Pls ignore her brown spots, those were from her summer sunburn) No pests that I can see, and she’s not moved locations. Still putting out new leaves. Tho I did just remove her stakes that her rear vines were in bc the vines got too long, but those leafs are nice and marbled.

Is it getting a good amount of light? Where is it located at in your home? I have several marble pothos. 2 in particular are on a shelf and don't receive much light and only require watering every 3-4 weeks. They both are in a plastic pot as well so the water doesn't dry up as fast as a terracotta pot would. 😊 I would probably cut back on the watering and see if that helps. Use your finger to test the soil.

She’s in my SW window, gets direct light for 3-4hrs then bright light for nearly 8hrs. Been there for almost a year now and has been happy till now. Liner pot has drainage holes decor pot doesn’t, but I have a little stand to raise the liner pot up off the bottom of the decor pot for airflow/more drainage. (Also be decor pot is too deep for liner despite both being the same size) She was repotted in the spring, do you think she could be root bound? I don’t see roots poking out the bottom tho.

Wouldn't hurt to check the roots. I'm still leaning on a possible watering issue.

It may be time for a repot. Pot should be 1”-2” bigger than the root ball.

I’ll take some pics when I pop it outta the pot and get y’all’s opinion on it. I didn’t see roots outta the bottom but maybe she’s root bound already. She was repotted in the spring tho.

I think the root ball is ok, she’s foot down good roots but doesn’t seem root bound to me

She’s got good strong roots! It wouldn’t hurt to repot her. One question though, did you ever check her for one of those cage things on her roots when you got her? Today I bought a couple of plants at a local store and they had put the plant in this weird sponge thing and it was the pots to get off! I knew I needed to take it off or it would kill my plants. 😖

I didn’t actually. When I repot I’m scared to disturb the root ball so I just plop the old pot in the new one, fill with soil and take the old pot out so it’s the correct size for the plant and plop her in. So far it’s worked out really well nothing has gotten shock from repotting.

You can’t fully trust a water meter. Using a wooden meat skewer, chopsticks or similar tool to test for moisture like checking if a cake is done baking. Moisture on the stick means the soil is still wet plus you can see the moisture level on the stick.

I guess it’s time to collect some skewers and practice with them. I’ve never been good at telling with a toothpick when I’m baking a cake so 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻 I catch on quick the with plants!

There will be bits of soil sticking to the wet sections of the stick. Also, leave the sticks in the soil 15 minutes or more. The wood will turn dark in the wet part of the soil showing the water line depth.

The roots look fine. Nothing obvious. It might be sensitive to the water or the fertilizer. Try changing to distilled water a couple of months to see if it helps.

Ok I can do that. I actually have some distilled water I can use that for next time. Typically I waited 2 days after planta told me to water and she was dry but I guess even that wasn’t enough. I’ll give your skewer trick a go and I’ve ordered some (OK-ish priced) clear pots to swap her pot out for.
