What’s wrong with my pothos??? It has this black end on the bottom. I’ve had this plant for a month and haven’t seen any growth on it anywhere. However this black spot leads me to believe nothing will grow from this particular spot at all in the future. Do I cut this back to promote new growth, or do I just need to be patient and see what’s going to happen with it?

New leaves and roots come from the nodes, the ‘joints’ along the vines. The dark area at the cut section is the vine forming a callous to block insects, infections and prevent the plant from drying out. Trim the vine into sections of one to two nodes each. Place them in water. Remove the leaves below water to prevent rot. Change the water once a week. Plant in well dressing soil when the roots reach 2 inches.

It’s rot sadly. You might be able to cut the rotted part off and grow roots on it, but I’m new to propagating so I’m not sure.

Also just a note, you’re holding the vine upside down in this picture. If you’re trying to propagate it in water, you should have a node at the base of the vine submerged so that the plant can maintain its direction of growth.
