Hey guys. I’ve finally purchased and got my hands on my dream specimen of a few months now!!! The Epipremnum Pinnatum Albo AKA Albo Pothos/Dragon Tail. I’m just wondering if there are any tips you all can provide for long term care, and trying to make it climb a moss pole.? Keeping the white variegation longer. How to protect from pests. This is my first moss pole so I’m praying it doesn’t end up to be a disaster. 🙏🏻 I’ve fertilized with GT foliage focus so he (Fenny) should start perking up here soon. I hope, and I hope they continue to thrive, if there’s one plant I don’t want perishing it would be this one.. I will put my life’s work into it 😭

    Looks gorgeous! I personally don't have any moss poles, so i can't give too much advice aside from typical making sure the pole stays moist. You might want to mix the water with mosquito dunks or something similar to kill any potential future fungus gnats. If you want it to climb, you also dont have to go the moss pole route. I have pothos, monstera, and philodendron that will happily climb a plank of wood, so its a matter of preference for climbing material. Best of luck! 👍

      Thank you very much 😁 I searched for weeks making sure this was my favorite out of the ones available!!! I do have slow drippers that I ordered and have been using to keep the moss damp/moist. Also I did use a mixture of RO water, Mosquito Dunk/Bit water, and then a half dose of fertilizer for the initial 2 dropper bottle refills. I had a few specimens on wooden sticks and planks but I really am looking for the explosive leaf growth I see everyone getting online with their moss poles. I want my leaves to be the size of my arm 😭. Do the leaves still get super large when climbing wood? Personally I like the way a few of them grow and wrap around the moss pole, resembling sort of like a tree. But the plant being the tree. Thank you so very much Ama!!! 🙏🏻 I’m praying everything goes well with acclimation and keeping this baby happy!! Wishing yourself a blessed day/evening ahead 💛🪴

      Also for wood, what kind do you recommend? I do have a Philodendron White Princess I would consider putting back on wood, but I want it to be more of like a permanent placement type thing. The stick I was using was very temporary, as it was just a stick I found back in the woods 😭. Will the roots actually grow into the wood, or do they just attach like glue.? Does the wood need to stay wet?

      I've only started keeping plants last year, so I don't have long term plants that have gotten super big yet. The new leaves of my first plant, a marble pothos, are just about the size of my hand. For really big leaves, it's a matter of just constantly extending your pole, chopping it when it gets too tall and repotting that top portion to make a new plant to grow. I know humidity/moisture also plays a huge role in allowing leaves to size up as well, which i think moss poles can definitely help with.

      I have bought wood planks for plants from treleaf and those are fine but pricey. Honestly any rot resistant wood like cedar is good. I do believe there are ways to seal the part of the wood that goes into the soil to help prevent rot as well. From what i can see of my plants, they do kind of "stick" to the wood and attach like glue in a way. I will spray/mist the planks like 2 times a week, but i dont think you really even have to do that as they are natural climbers? I spray them because for what i think at least, the roots absorb water and dont have to send it up the plant as far if youre just watering the soil, which possibly also helps contribute to large leaves as they can put more energy toward them.
