Just curious. Seems the local Facebook marketplace sells a lot of “expensive” plants. I often see plants for $400 and up! We have a big event coming up from a local plant store and local sellers are already advertising some plants they will have at the event. This is just one example. Many others for much more money. But why is a starter pothos $125. And would you pay this much?
I would not pay that much money for a starter pothos!! I could ask for a prop from someone and get it for free!!

it's so expensive because it's an incredibly difficult plant to care for and duplicate due to high variegation (probably unstable), and i'm also assuming it must've been imported because it says 'japan'. not worth it to me, but some people really do love their collections enough to be willing to purchase it
3 likes Are you assuming or are you familiar with this plant? Guess I should look it up. So does that mean I can ask a few hundred for this plant that I have three of? I’m familiar with this seller. She has her own greenhouse and sells regularly. So pretty sure it’s a cutting from her plant. Update: just looked it up and it is a good price. “Highly sought after” the ads said. Wow! And it originates from a Japanese grower.
was just assuming 🤷♂️ usually plants with high variegation struggle and are made more expensive to weed out the people who don't know what they're doing

I have never spent over $10 on any of my plants!!!! I could not imagine spending $125 on any plant!!!!

That is wild! I’ll pay up to about $25 for a plant but Home Depot & Walmart have been my dealers of choice lately. The last props I got off someone else died but my store bought plants do well once I get them out of their nasty soil!

That is completely outrageous, only the rarest types should cost this much I would never pay this much money for this type but I do see that the variegation is high so that could be why it was priced so high?
