Hi everyone! I’m new to the planting community and my friend gifted me some cuttings from her silver satin pothos! When would be a good time to pot the cuttings? One of the cuttings has grown a root and a leaf while the other doesn’t seem to have a root yet even though they were cut at the same time (it does look like there’s a small leaf coming in tho!) Also will the purple pot (shown in the photo) be a good place to pot them initially? Like I said I’m a complete beginner so any help would be amazing!

I like to plant cuttings when there are “secondary” roots - when there are little roots growing on the main root if that makes sense, about an inch long.

You don’t HAVE to wait for secondary roots, but its a very good idea to. It’ll give your plants the best chance for success and an easier transition. If you just can’t wait for secondary roots for whatever reason, I’d wait until they have 2 primary roots at least 2-3” long. And yes, the purple pot looks like an appropriate size. You want 1-2” larger then the root ball. So for a cutting I place it in my pot to see how much space the roots take up. I always error on the smaller side if you don’t have a great fit for what pots you have.

I will leave it in water until you have a well establish root system. I see 2 cuttings and only 1 has a root. I don’t think you should transplant it, but it is my humble opinion
