This is a pothos that I have had since 2019 and have repotted a couple times but I am wondering at what point do I prune it? My roommate had a pothos that she pruned and it died and I really do not want that to happen to this one. Any advice would be appreciated!
I've never heard of a plant that died from pruning. Perhaps there was another issue? I don't know, maybe it happens, but I would think you could prune whenever you want. Pruning does help growth a lot because each time you cut, two new stems grow in its place. But if it's full growth you honestly don't have to prune it at all.

hi! i’ve never had a plant die from pruning! you can cut the leggy bits between the nodes and propagate them in water before popping them back into the pot to make a fuller plant.

You can more or less prune this one the way you want. If you’d like to contain the plant to the stand, just trim anything growing past the shelf it sits on. It’s also easy to propagate if you’d like another plant.
