So I've been told that Pothos do not like moist soil… But I've also seen people growing Pothos in just water. So in moist soil, the roots will rot but in water they are fine??

    Good question. I'm no expert, so I'll wait and see what others say. I'm propagating some pothos right now, and they are growing lots of roots. I have the cuttings in water.

    When pothos are in soil and it’s overwatered, the water takes up the all the tiny spaces and so it suffocates the roots of oxygen, this environment also creates bacteria and fungi. When they are placed in just water they grow an aquatic like root system that absorbs the oxygen directly from the water. They still can develop root rot if water isn’t cleaned regularly and if bacteria gets into the water.

      Can you take a pothos that has been growing in water, and then place it back in a pot with soil??

      Yes absolutely! After you remove it from water I would cut away half to 2/3 of the roots, along with anything brown or mushy, this encourages the plant to focus on new root growth. Then replant in soil that is airy and drains well so the new roots are protected against root rot 👍🏼
