Hi! I am new to taking care of plants. I have taken a strong interest in gardening but i am learning as i go. Can anyone tell me what might be wrong with my Pothos? I water her about once a week depending on how damp or dry the soil is. She is sitting across The room from the front window gets a lot of lighting. I have tried fertilizing her. I have not repotted her because i dont think that is needed quite yet, her roots seem to fit this pot just fine. No sign of bugs. Yet, my leaves are drooping and curling up, there are a few that seems to be dying turning yellow. Can anyone help me out? Not sure what else to do.

It looks to me like it needs water. I noticed you have a paper towel under the pot, I would remove that. That works well for plants that are overwatered but if your plant is dehydrated then you are just removing more water. Is the pothos getting direct sunlight?

Hi! Thank you for commenting❤️ On Monday, I sat her in the tub and let her soak up water for about an hour so she’s well watered as of now, the soil is still quite damp. After she finished draining, I placed the paper towel there to soak up any excess water that would seep out the holes, but I will definitely remove the paper towel now and keep that in mind, Thank you. And no, she does not get direct sunlight, but she’s sitting in front of a very large window about 10 feet across the room that gets really good lighting throughout the whole day.

Of course! What I do with my pothos is to make sure to let the top inch or two dry out before watering and then completely soak it. This way you can prevent overwatering it but also don’t underwater it. My pothos don’t need a lot of watering when I do that about once every week and a half or more. I hope that works!

My first impression is has a watering issue. I would guess it’s too dry based on the vines that are limp and have folded leaves. Watering - I agree with Andrea on removing the paper towel. Allow the pot to fully soak in water when watering it in a sink, tub or plastic tray/bucket. Then, let it completely drain out the excess water before putting it back on the shelf. Get a plastic drainage tray or old saucer to catch the dampness. Lighting - Pothos can stand some low light. But, this one may be too far from the window being on the opposite wall from the window. Winter conditions mean less light in the room each day. Maybe summer sun provided good enough lighting and the light is too low in winter. I recommend getting a grow light and run it 12 hours a day at least with the light about 1ft from the plant. Reduce or stop fertilizing until spring if the growth of the plant slows. Excess fertilizer can cause yellowing. 🍀🪴

Use a light meter or an app to see the amount of light that reaches the back wall. Compare that to the minimum lighting a pothos needs.

The stem with the curled up leaves could possibly have root rot. I would check the roots and if that seems to be the case just remove that stem. Repot into a smaller pot and let dry between waterings. 😊🪴

my instinct says overwatering. 10 feet is pretty far away from a window. i have a pothos in a 5 inch pot about that far away too but i let her dry out pretty much completely before watering again, probably every couple weeks or more. whatever you try, if all else fails i would suggest chopping & propping. pothos bounce back from that easily & depending on how much you chop you could create a fuller pot! BUT if you do chop her, let her propagate with higher light conditions.
