Hey fam, guess who bought another pothos! 😜 Just got this beauty today from the local nursery😁 Her name is Billie 🤩 she's very thick and I'm thinking of splitting her in half so I get two new plants for the price of one 🤔 this one is pretty root bound and I'm scared of hurting her if I split her in two - what do y'all suggest? Also, not sure sure if you can tell but in the photo of the very bottom roots, towards the center circle I think I saw some white fuzziness happening 😱 Looks like some mold was forming here. The roots don't stink at all, so thankfully I don't think there's root rot. Any suggestions on how to prevent the mold from spreading before I repot? Or on what to do about the roots being so bound? Or any suggestions on general about anything of concern that you see (that I probably missed)? I'm going to keep her as is until I get some advice from y'all, my experts! 😆 Thank you!!!!

    while i’m FAR from a professional, i would be TERRIFIED to split it given how packed the roots are 😭😂 again no professional but Id thoroughly clean the roots before repotting, and assuring you choose a pot at least 1-2” wider to allow room for more growth! good luck woth whatever you choose!!

      Yeah, I'm no pro either 😅 The consensus seems to be to leave Billie intact! 🎉 I'll don't exactly have another pot that's only 1-2 inches bigger though. I have this but I think it might be too big. Thoughts?

      How exactly should I clean the roots?

      i would try to do as much as you can just rinsing them in water until you’re able to see the root clearly, making sure you cut off any rot and maybe do a peroxide/water solution which you can find just by googling!

      also for pot, it it had drainage that should be good for the time being as long as there’s room for the roots to grow! you may just need a wider one next repotting if it spreads out

      Some of the soil came right out but the other sides are so bound in roots they aren't loosening easily 😬 what's a good way to loosen the roots from the soil without damaging them?

    Hello! This plant looks quite healthy, so I wouldn’t split it if the roots are not easily able to be disentangled. I would just wipe the fuzz away as much as possible and repot as is. If you think about it, as it grows, you’ll get more than two plants out of it if you keep propagating!

      Thank you so much! I will be keeping her intact and propagate later on 😄 do you think the gray pot above in the photo above is too big? She came in a 6 inch nursery pot and this is the best one I have at the house right now 🤔

      Actually, found an 8 inch nursery pot! 🎉🎉🎉 Billie is getting a new apartment tonight after all!!

      What do we think? I couldn't get this side loose as much as the other? Will it be alright repotting leaving it like this?

      When I repot, I just loosen the roots as much as I can without hurting them, and plant it with whatever bits of soil and tangled roots are still there. So far, everyone has done fine.
