Is this from overwatering? And is it alright if some of the leaves have those holes in them??

Hi good morning I just purchase a pothos plant from Lowe’s on Wednesday and I was wondering when should I start to water it

The holes in the leaves are caused my mechanical damage. Usually low humidity when they’re unfurling causes them to slightly tear. Nothing to be worried about except esthetically not as pleasing. As for checking your soil….I’ve used the chopstick method for YEARS and its way more reliable then moisture meter or gadget. You do want to be sticking it all the way to the bottom of the pot, and with pothos, water when it’s almost/or completely dry. Watering when only the top 1-2” is dry will be too frequent for this plant.
