What’s a good soil for a pothos? I took a cutting from my father-in-law and rooted it for the longest in water. It was long enough to put in soil then I had to remove it and put it back in water because the soil was staying too moist and I didn’t want to destroy the roots. I don’t know what to do now since I don’t know what soil works best.

i recently propagated my cousins pothos during the summer and i used regular potting mix and it’s doing great so far, but you could also try a tropical potting mix, i’ve heard they do just as good 😌 also you might have been watering it to much make sure to let the soil dry out a bit before you water it again!

Thank you Ella! I have some tropical soil I will use. With the weather, it also wasn’t helping it. I’ve been having an issue overwatering because I feel like bottom feeding dries out quick. I could be wrong though.

Hi! I have made a well draining soil mix for my pothos and it’s been doing SO well. The mix is: half tropical plant soil then the other half is split between three other substrates (pebbles, perlite, and orchid bark) :)

Oh really? Thank you so much for the tip I had no idea, so far I’ve had no issues but I’ll actually stop using them going forward!! :)

I would say any all purpose indoor plant soil. Ive used both miracle gro & fox farm which I then add perlite & orchid bark (for air flow) along with a couple other things. I also recently purchased a chunky mix from Sol soils & I love it as well, it works great for all aroids!

I had drainage issues with all purpose mix. Both of mine almost died. I switched to a mix of orchid and tropical/cactus mix that has lava rock in it. I no longer have that issue, and mine have been thriving!

I changed it to tropical soil and it does have lava rock!
