My Arrowhead is looking a bit sad…what am I doing wrong? She lives in a southeast window. Maybe not enough sun? Any advice is greatly appreciated 💚

I’m a beginner, lol, so I haven’t done anything but make this post. I waited for the soil to be dry before watering🤷‍♀️ (I’ve only had it about 2 weeks)

It could also just be going through normal plant stress that happens after bringing them home. They have to get used to being in a new environment. But checking the roots is always a good thing to do!

Looks too dry to me. The soil has pulled away from the pot indicating the plant went too long without water or the water added was insufficient. You have to water by flowing lots of water through the pot and let it drain out. The gap between the soil and pot can create another issue of water running down the inner sides of the pot before enough soaks into the soil. The topsoil will look wet, water drains, but, the center of the rootball could stay dry. Bottom water by putting the pot in a container of water to allow the soil to saturate for 30 minutes. Then, drain the excess water. The soil will eventually expand to close the gap. 🍀🪴

Good catch! Thorough watering has been my latest plant lesson. Lol.

I switched several plants to clear plastic pots to watch the water flow because they stayed too dry even after watering. I found out I was under watering some of the larger 6 inch wide pots. I hid the clear pot inside a solid color pot. Then, I watered until I thought the soil was fully soaked. I removed the solid color pot to find dry spots all around the inner clear pot. So, I water twice, now. The first watering is to let the soil start to absorb water. I leave it alone. Then, come back in about 30 minutes for the second watering or to add liquid fertilizer. I let it completely drain before I put the plant back into a ceramic outer pot.
