Hey!! I have never successfully propagated a pothos, but I only tried twice in the past when I barely knew about plants or nodes. Where on my pothos should I cut?

    Anywhere BELOW a node - that joint where a leaf attaches. That joint is where the new roots will grow from.

    Good luck! I love propagating pothos. I have 10+ pothos all from a single vine my daughter got at a 4H event! Happy propagating!

    It’s so easy! I like to cut as many as possible and in a couple months you’ll have a nice new lush plant! You can even cut leafless nodes

      I just took two cuttings and one already looks like it has roots?? Do you think putting it in water could damage that?

      Putting it in water will not damage it! I can only keep pothos alive in water (they do great in soil too just not for me) and I have propagated several pothos plants in water!

      Absolutely not. Putting in water will help the roots grow! Do it. It’s so rewarding! I got a bunch of cuttings in water right now! The ones in the photo are in my great room. I have more cuttings in my living room! The ones in the living room are older and have lots of roots. Some are ready to be planted in soil, which I will do in a couple of weeks.

    Yep a 4th of an inch below the node. "Node is where the leaf comes out of the stem.. You can do it, they are so easy to propagate. It will work this time.

    No it won't damage the root it will grow longer in water which is what you need anyway. Let the roots grow 4 or 5 inches in water before you plant in soil

    Also fyi the produce a natural root hormone. Anytime I propagate something else I always stick them in there with my pothos. I’ve done fiddle figs, Syngonium, and even a tomato plant I had broke off. Also when I change the water due to the hormone I leave a bit of the water when I add fresh. When I want to get ready to put in soil I slowly add soil to the water so the water roots can accumulate to the soil.
