I got this plant probably a month ago at this point and when I got it, I left it in the car for probably 20 minutes to run in and grab a drink on a hot day and it leaves got super limp for probably two days after sticking it inside and now a month later, I have a ton of dark spots. Do you think it is from the sun exposure? It was not really ever exposed to direct sun although I did have a grow light on it and all I could think of is that maybe it scorched it but I don’t know why else these leaves would be turning brown?

    It probably went into shock from the hot temps. Cars can get like, 150+ degrees inside on a hot day very quickly. The damage won’t go away, you can trim off the brown if you like, but the rest of the plant should be fine.

    It wouldn’t take a month to react to high temperatures. The effect would show up the next day if not the same day. This looks likes a watering issue. The leaves turning soft in the brown areas is likely overwatering. The leaves turning crispy brown with no softening could be dehydration from under watering. Check the roots for rot which appears when the soil is drying too slowly. Slow drying can come from too much soil holding too much water for the plant to use up before rots starts. This is an oversized pot condition. Repot to a small pot just wide enough to hold the roots. Excessive watering can cause rot. Verify the soil is dry before watering. Waiting too long after the soil dries out leads to under watering. 🪴🍀
