I was gifted an arrowhead already potted. I didn’t want to put it under anymore stress by repotting right away so I’ve waited a full 30 days. Buttttt as I was watering today I noticed a root has made its way out of the bottom of the pot!! So it’s time to repot…right? I’m a first time plant mom and I’m already super proud of myself for keeping it alive this long! Lol 😂 I just want to make sure I’m doing everything correctly so I can give it a good life. With all that being said, sorry I’m a rambler🙈 what size pot should I use? Is regular potting soil okay? What about spacing…should I bundle them all together or keep them separated like they are now? Are those gold things really needed right now? Any other tips/tricks are welcome!💚 (She’s in an 11 inch pot now btw)

I don’t feel like you need to repot again, you could throw it into shock and you really only repot like once a year. The plant seems to have plenty of room in the current pot and the only reason it popped out was bc there are slits. In the future you can separate if you have two plants, or keep them together, up to you! You just don’t want the pot to be too big, my experience is that it won’t produce new leaves if that’s the case

I’ve never repotted it and the person who gifted it to me doesn’t remember when she potted it, thanks for your advice!

What about the golden things? Are those needed right now?

Some plants like monsters, philodendrons and pothos all produce arial roots for support to grow taller so if you get any of those in the future, a moss pole or support of some sort is helpful

I would agree with Courtney, even if it has never been repotted it could be putting the majority of its energy into growing a root system. I would recommend leaving it for a while, feeding it fairly heavily and making sure it gets good light

For my syngonium I use a well draining cactus mix!

You don’t need to, I only do mine once a month max in the warmer months

The pot is a bit big. Maybe the plant was fuller based on the amount of dry vines. I recommend replacing the metal trellises with a moss pole to give the vines a path to climb. The narrow leaf syngoniums look better supported by a moss pole.

Should I just insert the pole and let it do its thing or would I need to secure it like she’s done with these golden ones? Thank you so much for the advice!

Definitely tie them to the pole in a few places. Use floral tape or plant ties that do not cut or scrape the vines.

If you use a moss pole you may have to tie them to it just to get them trained but you may not have to keep them tied forever! There are quite a few good tutorials online, talking about install and how to keep the moss damp etc.
