Hey y’all, if you’re reading this hope you’re doing well! I discovered spider mites on my new neon Pothos, but thankfully, I had quarantined it, so my other plants are safe. I panicked when I saw the infestation and decided to remove the plant from the soil, clean the roots, and repot it with fresh soil. I know it’s stressful for the plant, but it was growing well despite the mites, so I think it’ll bounce back. Any thoughts or tips?

It will definitely bounce back, pothos are resilient ! You probably could’ve just given a good spray down and treatment but either way she’ll definitely bounce back, I repotted mine not even a week ago and it’s already perkier than it was before 🤗

keep your eyes peeled — you’ll probably have to treat again. spider mites lay eggs under the “skin” of the leaf, not the soil, so they will likely reappear at least once. stay vigilant and hose it off like Bri suggested when they tuen up again

Thank you! I’m keeping an eye out on all my other plants as well. I actually saw a few on some of my otherplants! I’m presuming that I thought I was in the clear and passed them thru using my water meter 🤦🤦

I put a little neem oil in my water. It takes about 3 days for it to get in the vascular system of the leaves. Then when any new spider mites latch on, they die. Had a spider mite infestation on 60 of my plants after I came back from vacation, so it went unnoticed for a bit. I wrapped my soil/pot with a plastic bag. I took cold water with dawn dish soap and took the leaves and stems of the plants and dunked them repeatedly and rinsed with cold water. Added neem oil water to every plants pot. Within 2 weeks, all plants survived and no spider mites.

Dr bronner’s Castile soap (peppermint) 70% isopropyl alcohol and water mixture helped my pothos after she got mites and it’s as if she never had them. Sprayed her 3x in a week and so far so good. Just don’t leave her in the sun after spraying (mine got a bit sun burnt)

Oh no!!!! Sorry you’ve got a bit of infestation going on. Hope the mixture helps! I’ve also been told that spraying monthly helps in preventative maintenance. Good luck with your plants!
