Came to my parents house and found this guy that my mom had taken from my grandmas place to propagate. They had her in very wet soil with a paper towel over, and the paper towel was starting to mold so out of fear for root rot I threw her in here, recut and split into two. What do we think the chances of her making it will be??

i meannnnn, it’s in water now so what can go wrong, but if you cut the end of the stem off, just a bit of it and make sure there is no rot, leave it out for a few hours and then put it back in the water, apparently putting cuttings in water when the stems still wet helps them to rot? i’ve tried doing it and mine are fine so i think it works

Spray some peroxide on the part that goes in the water. It will be fine.

Agreed. The bacteria is usually carried over from the soil, from infected hands/gloves and tools. Disinfecting everything before and after cutting will reduce the risk of infection.

I recommend cutting the longest into three pieces with 2 or 3 nodes per cutting. This will allow the plant to focus on putting out roots instead of trying to feed energy to leaves and long stem. Each cut section can grow its own root system giving you more starter plants to share!😄 That’s how I got several pothos Silver Swords and syngonium Three Kings!🍀🪴

Make sure the node is touching the water and not just stem.
