Can someone please tell me what's going on with this Variegated Pothos? I picked it up yesterday from FB Marketplace, watered it since soil was dry top to bottom. Not sure what's going on, the leaves are also very thin and flimsy. There's another baby one sitting in the same pot. Perhaps I should try downsizing the pot? It seems really large for the plant itself.

The pot size probably doesn’t make a huge difference! Too small is the issue, but too big is fine. It’s probably classic transplant shock, the plant is stressed from moving environments

Actually too big of a pot can also cause problems! If there’s a bunch of extra soil without roots in it, the soil can hold onto water and cause root rot. When repotting, which I think OP is doing, the pot should be only 1-2 inches bigger than the root ball.

Also it’s possible the previous owner was over watering, I would pull it out and see if there’s any root rot! Look up some TikTok’s or YouTube videos for what to do if there’s root rot! Usually you can chop off the mushy roots and repot

Unfortunately not knowing what the previous owner was doing, but was clearly neglected. I'd remove the brown or yellow leaves. And keep eyeballing it for possible pests. But hopefully it was just neglected

There was a lot of root rot! I just repotted it so hopefully it will recover:) But i’ll keep an eye out for pests. Thanks!

Hi just wanted to chime in that if the original pot was too big for the plant that you should repot it into a smaller pot! That probably contributed to the root rot
