Sigh of relief this group exists. I accidentally nitrogen burned my poor Pothos. A persone from another group told me to rinse the soil in the sink to help flush the nitrogen. In my brain I’m thinking but isn’t that like an anti-biotic? I’m not only getting rid of the nitrogen but other nutrients? I doubled the amount of water I’ve given him but put the whole pot in the sink and rinse? Also can some identify the EXACT TYPE of Pothos Bradley is?
Yours looks like a pearls and jade pothos to me. You’re correct that flushing the soil out like that will get rid of other nutrients, but it’s also necessary to treat nitrogen burn, just like anti-biotics are still necessary to treat bacterial infections sometimes. However, you’ll add nutrients back into the soil the next time you start back with a lower dilution/lower frequency/different brand (depending on what the cause is was) fertilizer or plant food, so your plant shouldn’t experience any setbacks from a good thorough rinsing.
0개 좋아요 I was using the miracle Grow powder. I know I put too much. I have a potassium dry fertilizer I’m going to try. I also burned my nerve plant as well. Any suggestions on brand of FERT and dilution?
0개 좋아요 My personal favorite is dyna-gro foliage pro which works well for most of my houseplants. Jacks classic 20-20-20 fertilizer is also a good all purpose fertilizer. For both of them, I just follow the instructions on the bottle or in the instruction manual for dilution. The dyna-gro bottle will tell you how much to dilute based on what you’re using it for. If you go with Jack’s, make sure you follow the instructions for indoor houseplants specifically.
