Hi first time taking care of pothos and hanging plants! Can someone help me? I’m not sure if the problem is overwatering or under watering but I typically water every Sunday but these are what the leaves and roots look like… They look dehydrated!!!

Pothos like to completely dry out, so I am guessing that is overwatering. I’m not as familiar with your other plant, so let’s see what Planta members have to say… Good luck, 🤗💚🪴

Omg really! Didn’t know that. Thank you! Should I water them every other week then?

I was overwatering mine but luckily stopped! Like Lynda said, you want to make sure the soil is totally dry before watering again. So you may not be giving it too much water per se, but just not letting it fully dry out enough if that makes sense. If the leaves are dead/dried out, you could just take them off like I did haha! If they don’t want to come off though I’d leave them on until they’re ready. Those leaves will probs die though if yours is like mine. She looks so big and beautiful regardless! Also, sometimes certain leaves just die for no reason from time to time & nothing is wrong. So it could be that. I wouldn’t worry too much as overall she looks very healthy🫶🏻

For plants that like to dry out, don’t use a set time schedule; use a plant stake to measure dryness. After you push the stake or wooden dowel all the way to the bottom of the pot and let it sit for few minutes, then pull the stake out; you should see very few crumbs of dirt on it if the plant is sufficiently dry. Moisture meters don’t measure dryness very well unless the plant is dry, dry, dry! You don’t want plant to get too dry or the leaves will brown on the tips. Hope this helps answer your question. 🤗💚🪴

Do you think the roots look okay? I’m not sure if I’m overthinking it. Also for hanging plants do you take out the pots to water them? I’ve found it hard to take in and out because of length!!
