HELP! I'm not sure what's wrong with Molly May here 😟 She's growing new leaves but the ones towards the bottom are limp and curl inwards. I water her and mist as scheduled. I don't have any fertilizer at the moment though. Could that be the issue? 🤔 I honestly don't know. The mama plant she came from (Molly) is THRIVING in my bedroom. Molly May usually lives at my desk at work and she gets enough light (indirect sun and florescent) everyday. But I brought her home because I thought maybe I needed to repot her since I saw a couple of roots starting to come through the drainage holes. I'm too scared to do anything just yet though. Any thoughts?

    Looks like it’s time to pot up and also check the roots for any root rot. just in case I would replace as much of the soil as possible when potting up

    Assuming you have checked for pests, especially spider mites. You say that you water as scheduled, but do you check to see if she needs to be watered? The schedule is just a reminder for you to check if she needs watering. She may not. Then you “snooze” the watering. So if soil is moist at this moment, my best guess is overwatering and you now have a root problem.

      I second Phil on this 100%. IF you don’t see any of the above issues, then this also could be an under watering issue. The leaf curl can be a sign. But like I said, check for what Phil has mentioned first before deciding it needs more frequent watering. It looks like you have it in primarily orchid bark (not a bad thing). This does dry out faster, due to increased airflow, than a soil based mix, and sometimes the app schedule can be way off for plants (both too much or too little). Only upsize if your plant is 50% roots to soil. A few roots out the bottom doesn’t necessarily indicate it needs to go up a size.

    Agreeing with above comments; pot up just by an inch, or keep the same size pot. check for root rot, and freshen up the soil. Be sure to let the top soil dry out between waterings.

    I'm feeling so hopeful with these comments, thank you! There are no mites or root rot, so I think she just needs to be watered more often. The soil I have is an aroid mix with perlite added. Would you recommend I switch or mix in a more soil based mix? If I don't then I'll just check if she needs water more often. And I don't see too many roots through the bottom yet, just a couple. So I'll wait to repot. Thanks so much for the advice everyone!!

      The current chunky mix should work if you water before the leaves go limp. You can add coco coir which is shredded coconut husk to hold more moisture between watering. Fertilize regularly to strengthen the plant with the nutrients it needs.

      I like Purived; it’s inexpensive and easy to use for all my plants, and gentle enough to use with every watering.
