Help yall! I have this pothos that’s pretty long and it goes up my window. Anyway it’s been losing leaves from the middle and even more since this photo. Idk why it’s doing this. For more context, there’s new growth and I haven’t changed how much a water it. The poor thing has lost so many leaves. They keep turning yellow!! HELP!

    When was it last repotted?

Oh I didn’t even think of that, it’s been awhile

Is water just flowing right through the soil without it really getting or staying moist?

It stays moist for a couple days

If it’s drying out significantly faster than you’d expect, it might need repotting, but the other advice here is good too 🙂

Is there a heater under/near it? It may be dry, if the leaves aren't actively yellowing.

Are there any stress breaks in the vine from where it’s hanging maybe? I’ve had Pothos vines break when I had them under too much stress from hanging. My other thought is maybe it’s cold in the window?

I think the cold might have something to do with it. It’s been losing a lot of leaves since it’s been getting colder. Thanks!

That makes sense that it could be a factor!

Is there anything I can do about my window being cold?

Not that I’m familiar with. But I know my Pothos loves the grow light I have it under and has really been thriving since I’ve started that. Then even more so once I started fertilizing and misting it.

It looks like it’s looking for light. The leaves above the window get a lot less light than the leaves near the pot. So, the lowest leaves are the ones contributing the most to maintain the entire plant in the photosynthesis process. Insufficient light shows up as yellowing, dropped leaves and large gaps between leaf nodes when the plant grows fast to search for light/water. What direction is the window facing? South and west facing gives the most sunlight. I would cut it at the first point above the pot where it has no leaves. This takes pressure off the plant. It can redirect its energy to the remaining leaves and vines. Propagate or share the cuttings. You can add rooted cuttings to the same pot to add fullness. I would check the roots. Overgrown roots can cause leaf drop. 🍀🪴

Agreed. Light is probably the issue here.

In addition to what others have said, how drafty is that window? Might also be the cold (assuming you are somewhere where it’s cold now!)

I am and the window does get really cold. Is there anything I can do about my window being cold?

It’s a tropical plant. It doesn’t do well in cold temperatures. Move all your tropical plants away from cold drafts. Get grow lights for all. There are many setups and varieties available online. Lights like the single -plant lights need to be close (< 1ft) to the plant. Run the lights at least 12 hours a day. Most come with timers.

What Sunny said! Or double pane your windows (but that’s expensive lol)
