I’m thinking of propagating my pothos since it’s grown so long that it’s touching my floor and the leaves are getting smaller and smaller. Any tips on how to do it without harming the original plant and keeping the babies alive? :)
I just propagated and I chose to first propagate them in water and then move them over to soil. Had no issues and all the new plants have leaves growing off of them! People recommend keeping 2-3 nodes per cutting (that’s where your new roots will grow from) but I did only one node cuttings and I found it did not make a difference. My parent plant is slowly shooting out new leaves
4 gillningar Okay, thanks! :) Should I gut the leaves off of the first few nodes so I can stick it in the soil better or should I leave it?

1 gillaThese are all the new plants I propagated and placed into a pot. I have another pot as well from cuttings too
Don’t be scared to prune! It will help the mother plant grow better! Make sure to whatever you use to cut is sharp and clean. You can disinfect with rubbing alcohol when moving to a different plant. Wherever you prune the mother plant, she’ll start putting out new vines from right above there. So if you only prune very far down, she’ll have new branches growing from very far down which may look funny. You can always test it on only one or two of the vines until you become more confident
