Bottom watering vs Wick watering: I’m changing the way I water my plants from top watering. I have a majority of pothos along with a few other plants. Any suggestions on which is best?

LeafyGreenhouseBottom watering and wick watering are both good options. Wick watering can sustain more water for a longer time for instance they are commonly used for plants that are more sensitive to overwatering and under watering. Bottom watering is just a better technique for any plant as the roots can absorb water easier the top watering. I personally bottom water my pothos but both options work great.

Thank you! I’m leaning towards bottom watering. I’ve read wick watering is good but it can keep soil continuously wet which some plants don’t like. Plus, I’ve been battling fungus gnats for way too long. I’m so over it. I unknowingly brought home a plant that had them and I’ve been taken over 😩😭

Last year when I got a ton of plants in for my business the gnats owned the entire house 😭🫠

Ugh! The worst! They’re diving me crazy and nothing is getting rid of them so I’m desperate at this point.

Have you tried gnat concentrate that you put in water to get rid of them?, I bought some from target and it seems to be working

No, I haven’t tried that, but I did try the mosquito dunks and I didn’t find it did much of anything.

ABagelI have a golden pothos I top water and a neon pothos that came with a wick. I have to say that the neon is giving me more new growth faster than the golden pothos.
