Bought this pothos 19 days ago. It looked healthy and beautiful, but just in the last couple days I’m finding yellowing leaves. When I bought it, the soil was extremely wet, so I watered it for the first time 3 days ago. I didn’t notice any problems with the leaves at that point. Now there are four bad ones on various parts of the plant. It has put out several new leaves over the last couple weeks as well. I am not sure whether this is a water problem or a light problem, or something else. The plant is next to a south facing window and there is also an east facing window with a covered porch nearby. Originally I placed the plant against the wall next to the south facing window, but I was concerned it wasn’t getting enough light to keep the variegation distinct, so I’ve been pulling it over toward the window - on the west side of the south facing window - to catch the light in the first part of the day. Would this be too much? I find it strange that the yellow appeared after the first time I watered it, and I just remembered that I watered it with the same watering can (fresh rain water) that I fed a couple other plants with. So it did get a normal dose of Epsoma organic houseplant food. Maybe it didn’t like that? Anyway….sorry so long. Just trying to give a full picture of this plant’s recent experience and wondering what I should do. Any insights greatly appreciated.

It’s probably acclimating to your house from wherever you purchased this beauty from! I got one a couple months ago and it did the same thing I cut all the yellow off and now she’s growing like crazy! It could possibly be the fertilizer too I usually wait about 2 weeks before fertilizer a new plant just because I’m not sure when it was last fertilized! Hope that helps😇happy planting🪴

I fully agree with Mady. It could take 3 to 4 weeks to acclimate to your house. Avoid repotting during this period. Check for fertilizer beads in the soil. Many nurseries include timed release fertilizer in the potting mix. They can last up to 9 months. You only need to add fertilizer when the plant starts to look pale or growth slows during the warmer months.

Check for root rot honestly or if it's root bound

Thanks. Everything looks good. There is a lot of young growth in the center of the pot and it does seem kinda crowded up top, but the roots must be small enough at this point.

Or could it be that there are not enough roots for the amount of soil. It seriously took a long time to dry out after I bought it.

In my experience (I have 3 golden pothos) they do like to be root bound so they like a tight fit in the pot I agree with above don’t repot and they also aren’t crazy about sun could be getting sunburnt they like to be more towards the interior not really against a window could be against north facing during cooler months with shorter days but I’m betting more toward sunburn than anything as it usually does occur with yellowish patches on the leaves
