This is my golden pothos (that I’m not full convinced isn’t a heart leaf philo cause it looks exactly like my other one) I rescued this friend from my job where she was just sitting in a dark corner in a no drainage pot that her roots were SPILLING out of. Repotted, sized up, and started untangling her. I LOVE the length but I’m so scared she’s going to fall out of the pot cause her vines are SO heavy I can see them pulling in the soil. Any advice for this plant would be appreciated because woah. She big, and I’m more used to bushy smaller trails

    Its a golden pothos. Heartleaf philodendrens look different. I little thinner in the leaves then a pothos..

    I would trim her so she will get full at the top especially the vines that don't have leaves on them except at the bottom. You can also turn her 1/2 or 1/4th every time you water to make her fuller all the way around. You can propagate the ones you cut and stick them back in the soil if you want.

    I agree with the other guy, needs a prune and detangle. Im seeing some leafless vines so it wont be hard to choose. Lol.

      Thank you! & yes the vines are pretty bare so it should be pretty easy to trim back

    It’s definitely a golden pothos. Pothos have the ribbed vines and the brown dry bits on the leaf stems. Heartleaf philodendron vines are smooth. The pic shows the smooth vines on my Brasil and Lemon Lime philodendrons. I would cut off most of the vines. It was grown under stress and it shows from the color and the large gaps between the leaf stems that indicate the plant was growing fast to search for light and/or nutrients. The fresh cut will allow new growth under proper care. The current well established root system, the fresh repot, good light, proper watering and regular fertilization will produce new healthy growth under better conditions. It won’t take long for new leaves to appear. You can propagate and sell/trade/gift the cuttings. 🪴🍀

      This is so helpful! Thank you for being descriptive! I’ll be chopping her up today 🥹 I’ll miss the long vines but hopefully they’ll come back prettier

      It’s hard to cut up a big plant like this. But this one should grow well considering how long it grew under less than ideal conditions. I recommend putting it closer to the window sill after cutting or get a grow light. Sunlight doesn’t get to plants near the ceiling. Plants near the window sill get the best light. It will still live and grow slowly in the current location because it’s a pothos. It won’t thrive.🪴🍀

    My golden pothos loves to be trimmed back, especially when it gets so long. I agree with the advice above, put the cuttings in water and re plant into the pot. These grow so fast and root well:)
