I am very new to the plant world. I put one of my pothos in water about 2 weeks ago. How often should I change the water? It seems like slimy stuff is developing in the water around the roots.

    I change the water in mine every week, and I add a little liquid fertilizer to the water once a month.

    If it's fuzzy, white hair like stuff on the roots that's usually a good sign of health roots. Algae doesn't harm them to my knowledge, just looks a bit gross. I am pretty lazy though, change water once a month and never had issues. I like using Leca balls to grow them in, gives them more air.

    If it's green and slimy, it's probably just algae (like someone else said) and it's more an eyesore than anything else! If it really bothers you, you can gently rinse the roots with some clean water, but if you're not bothered by it, once every couple of weeks is normally fine!.

      It was just clear? Like when I pulled it out of the water I couldn’t even see it.

      Then you're totally fine! That's healthy, don't worry about that :) Change the water every 2-4 weeks, but otherwise just leave it alone unless you see any issues with the leaves!
