Good morning Pothos people! About three weeks ago I bought this Champs Élysées. She came with dripping-wet soil and was only slightly more pert than the photo on the left. Yesterday while completing my care tasks I found her drooping even more (L), and so this morning I removed from the pot completely and trimmed off the brown parts of the stems (R). My question is whether or not I should pop in water and try again, or just give up? There was only one slimy root, the rest of the nodes are firm. Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

    Please don’t give up, take it out of that soil and just put it in water. It will do much better, currently it is early winter where I am and mine had three new leafs sitting in just water. (I notice my tap water likes to leave calcium deposits on my roots so I use rain/snow water and or distilled).

      You can see in that photo it has some calcium deposits on the roots The photo I added is what it looks like today.

      Thank you for replying Nan! I ended up soaking her in a mix of peroxide and alcohol, then did as you suggested! Recently I have seen a lot of people propagating in straight perlite and didn't know if I should give it a whirl or not.

      I love propping pothos, and as much as I love my soil plants I hate having to repot and or dealing with pests. That’s why I try to keep it in water. This one in the photo is in soil, maybe you know, when you prop you want to look for these nodes that I highlighted. Each of these nodes will create new roots. Right where my finger is (right where the leaf meets the stem) is where I cut.

      For the pests: Neem oil diluted and mist them every two weeks . I put cinnamon in my pots with dirt too.

    It’s worth trying again. Wash off all the soil. Remove all of the rot. Disinfect with hydrogen peroxide to kill bacteria. Place in a container of water. Place in indirect bright light. Roots typically emerge in 2 weeks. Change the water when it’s cloudy. Keep the water level the same. Fertilize after the roots appear with diluted liquid fertilizer. Plant in soil when the roots are at least 2 inches long. 🪴🍀

      Thanks for your advice, I really appreciate it. I did as you said and washed, then soaked her until she stopped bubbling. However I've never used a hydroponic fertilizer: could you please recommend one to me?

      I just use Miracle-Gro on all my plants. I mix the blue granules with water per instructions. I use 1/2 of the recommended application per gallon of water and water twice a month. I water all of my 200+ plants with it and add it to my cuttings in water. It’s old school water and cuttings in a recycled food jar. I don’t have the fancy hydroponic set up. I have grown plants like this for many years. I just clean the jar when needed. 😂

    Glad I decided to check out the app for instructions on propagating pothos. I’m embarrassed to say that my pieces are cut way too long!!! My pothos leaves turn brown inside the house but as soon as I put them outside on my porch, they grow like crazy!!! Is it not enough sunlight inside? Please advise about my cuttings lol. I did put them in water. I will put them in soil once they get roots.

    Proud of my Christmas Catcus!! Brought it inside when the temp dropped in the 30’s, covered it at night and a couple days it had flower buds everywhere!

    I have 6 jars with cuttings!! And still have 2 plants on the porch that need to be cut back.
