Just bought my first 4 plants, a golden pothos being one of them. Iā€™ve no idea what Iā€™m doing. What sort of water? Fertilizer as well? I need all the tips! šŸ˜†

    Iā€™m in all the groups so I saw all of your posts lol, Iā€™ll just say all my advice here (hope that doesnā€™t make it too confusing and long) For the pothos I feel pretty confident anyone can keep one alive (my brother took one of mine and didnā€™t water it for almost a month, once I got her back she and gave her a good water she perked right up). Depending on how big yours already is you may want to make sure you have room for it to vine down (my biggest is on top of a bookshelf and some spots almost touch the ground). I also suggest once you feel confident enough to start propagating to start with pothos. Iā€™m not as knowledgeable about the other plants you have, my mom does have a monstera so I may be able to help a little with that one, From what I can tell they are relatively slow growers (especially compared to pothos or my mini monstera), since yours is a different type Iā€™m not sure if this applies but many love moss poles, I also know that they like to be a little root bound so donā€™t worry too much about that either. Overall for all the plants I suggest distilled or rain water, tap will do but with some more difficult plants it can cause mineral build up (Iā€™m looking at you jades), plus rain is just better for them, I donā€™t fertilize anywhere near as often as I should but Iā€™ve heard great things about happy house plant and big green leaves but different plants need different things, the good news is they will be okay while you research and find one that fits your needs and your budget.       I totally understand! My record is 5 in a day lol. Your pothos looks pretty small still so I think you will have plenty of time to figure it all out before itā€™s too big to move anywhere else like mine. For reference my manjula was about that big when I got her about a year or two ago

    A rule I follow for almost all my plants is water them throughly then let the soil dry out. I use my finger and push down into soil and if it is dry 3-4 inches down then I water. I donā€™t water if it is still wet. Most plants are going to be harmed more from overwatering than under watering. Of course there are some picky plants that need way less water or way more but Iā€™ll think youā€™ll be alright if you just water when the soil is dry.

      Definitely agree, with 99% of plants less is more, if your unsure donā€™t water it

    My Pothos like to practically dry out before watering. I donā€™t need to use distilled, but I do use a water conditioner with every watering. I have very hard water though.

    I let my pothos pretty much dry out before I water them. The leaves will start to curl a bit which can be a good indicator. I donā€™t condition my water at all I just use it straight out of the tap. If you are worried you can let the water sit for a bit before you use it. Iā€™ve heard that can allow chlorine and other chemicals to evaporate out of it, but idk how true that is. For fertilizer Iā€™ve been using Super Thrive Foliage Pro lately (available for relatively cheap on Amazon) and I love it! I use the recommended amount for maintenance in the instructions and use it every time I water (I do this for all of my plants except my carnivorous babies and orchids). They all seem very happy with it! I wouldnā€™t bother with a moss pole right now. Just let her trail or wrap the vines back into the soil and the nodes should roots, giving the plant a fuller look over time. Best of luck!
