Hello all, I have a beautiful satin potos thatâs outgrowing its nursery pot! The roots are all very healthy, but itâs definitely time for an upgrade. My question is: since the plant grows so quickly, is it damaging to plant it in a pot multiple sizes up from its current nursery pot? Itâs in a 2inch pot at the minute and Iâm thinking of potting it in a 6inch pot. Is this too drastic a change? Sheâs too beautiful for me to kill! Thanks in advance :)
I don't think that's a problem, but you need to make sure to water her appropriately. All in all, I wouldn't trust me, but I think she should be okay. đ€

1 gillaAs stated, be careful of over watering if you go up that big and also be prepared for the plant growth above to slow while the roots try to fill up all that space.

Pothos do like to be root bound though, so going up too quickly could shock your plant. I've found that the slower I move my plants up in size, the healthier their roots and overall health is. As a plant parent with majority pothos, that's been my experience. Hope that helps đ

A plant this small would do better moving to a 4â diameter pot. Excess soil without roots will hold moisture and slow the soil from drying out. This can lead to root rot and fungus gnats. I agree with the other comments that the plant will focus on root growth in an extra large pot. đȘŽđ
