My beautiful little Hope originally grew roots in water. Every original cutting that I received and put in water and then I planted died except this one. The roots were acclimated to water and about 4 inches long. Recently I cut off one stem from Hope with nodes and placed in water to propagate. Im waiting for mature roots to grow to replant it with mom so she will get bigger. When i do should i remove mom Hope from the pot and check her roots for any rotting to cut off? Also her soil is looking a bit moldy on the top. See how only the original cutting I planted is growing out of the soil? Why won’t more shoots pop up from her roots?

    Your pot looks too big; it should be no more than an inch bigger than the plant's rootball. The soil is staying too wet for too long, causing mold and possibly root rot. I would pull her out of that pot right now and check her roots for rot. Either put her back into water to form a stronger root system or make sure she's in an appropriately sized pot with good draining soil. It's also best to wait to pot until you see tertiary roots, regardless of how long the primary root has grown. I'm including a picture so you can see exactly which roots I'm talking about. I know it's hard to wait that long to pot, but it can also be fun to try to find cute vases and other water vessels for all the prop cuttings ☺️

      The roots were all firm. I repotted it in a smaller pot

      Take the bottom tray that’s connected to the pot off because it will keep the soil too wet

      Aimee, those roots look great!! How's Hope settling into her new home? Donna, that would only happen if she allowed water to sit in the tray. The pot should either get drained elsewhere or empty the tray a few hours after watering.
