Hello Planet Pothos community, I have recently noticed this fungi growing in the soil of my golden pothos. There are few other small patches of this, but this is the largest area. Any thoughts on why this could be occurring? Should I try to get rid of it?
That’s actually a pretty good sign your soil has a healthy little ecosystem going on! 🍄 The fungi itself generally isn’t harmful to your pothos—it’s feeding on organic material in the soil. I’d remove the visible mushrooms, but I’d also let the soil dry out a bit more between waterings since mushrooms popping up can be a sign the soil is staying consistently moist.

Whit_Y is correct, but also mushrooms popping up is typically a co-symptom to root rot. Mushrooms flowering means there’s a high fungal population in the soil and the main cause of root rot is rhizoctonia (fungal infection caused when the roots stay too damp and don’t receive airflow). You should definitely allow the pot to dry out a fair bit more before waterings and if you stick to a specific schedule that could be why it’s too damp.

Maybe you could cultivate the mushrooms in another pot and put dead leafs or roots for them to continue their own cycle! But I do agree with the other to most recent posters on their info!
